The Regional Disciples Women Cabinet’s Meeting was held 9/13/25 in Lynchburg at the Regional office. There were thirteen women in attendance. The meeting opened with a devotion “Starting Your Day Right” and prayer by Belinda Lineberry. The cabinet is still in need of representatives from Districts ten and eleven. All women were encouraged to share news and events about Disciple Women to be uploaded on the website:( discipleswomenva.org ) for continued information and updates regarding Disciples Women Ministry in the region and beyond.
The new Just Women Bible study is available for 2026 entitled ” Living the Abundant Life”. These studies are written and prepared by Disciple Women. Disciple Women’s groups, women’s Circles and women in general are encouraged study from our material, the Just Women study magazine. Our Spring Projects for 2026 were discussed. Our current local project is the Samaritan House in Virginia Beach. Mission monies collected at the Retreat from Talents for Missions will used to support the Samaritan House. Our local mission project for 2026 will be “Turning Point” in Roanoke, VA. The global mission project for 2025 was Kenya as this was the Woman-to-Woman World Wide mission trip. We have representatives who will be presenting to local churches, in the future about their trip to Kenya. Our global Spring project for 2026 will be Kenya again as needs will be presented from the mission trip and we as Disciples Women will support a specific program in Kenya. The Cabinet received one application for the Seminary Scholarship to be reviewed. The Regional Disciples Women’s retreat will be held at Smith Mountain Lake Oct. 10-12, 2025. The theme is “Putting Down Roots”. Betty Handy will be doing a Cricut card making workshop!!! Rev. Jordan Smith-Arrington, Boones Mill CC will be leading Saturday morning vespers. Our SERF (South East Regional Fellowship) retreat will be held March 13—15, 2026 at Christmount, Black Mountain NC. The theme is “You Are Enough” 2 Corinthians 9:8. The Cabinet members who attended General Assembly in July 2025, Memphis TN shared their experiences. They were very excited to have heard Rev. Dr. Martin L. King’s daughter, Dr. Bernice King. She spoke at the Women’s luncheon. Those that attended the General Assembly also shared the General Assembly will meet virtually the next two years prior to the next in-person General Assembly meeting in 2028. The committee that reviewed the Policies and Procedures/By-Laws for the DWM cabinet committee reported updates. There will not be a SPA Day in 2026, spiritual (study), prayer and action, Day scheduled for the spring 2026 due to the upcoming SERF retreat and General Assembly in 2026. Amanda Perry agreed to be the 2026 Disciples Women Retreat chairman. Our next Disciple Women Ministry cabinet meeting will be Saturday February 21, 2026 in Lynchburg.
Rev. Bill Spangler-Dunning will be installing the incoming Disciples Women Ministry Cabinet officers for 2026-2028. The new officers will be: Chairman, Florence Parcell, Rocky Mount CC. District 4; Vice Chairman Cathy Law, Bon Air Christian Church, Richmond, District 7; Treasurer, Kay Ainsworth, Olive Branch CC. Williamsburg, District 8; Secretary, Amanda Perry, Bethany CC, Roanoke District 3. The odd districts are responsible for providing lunch. The meeting adjourned with prayer.
